Thanks. If you like the layout, buy the Thesis Wordpress template. I'm using it pretty much out of the box, with a few tweaks. It's a framework built on top of wordpress, which means you are betting on two separate development efforts, but I think it's a worthwhile gamble for where we are on the web today.

i designed and hacked (er, had a real developer hack) the logo into the header there; the rest is all Thesis Wordpress.

Thanks Mike. The problem is, there's money to be made in SPAM. Certainly, there are no government grants involved here. John Conner, I think was being a bit naive, when he said we could stop the SPAM, now and forever. It's a war that we will always fight.

As a bumpesticker on a huge-gas guzzling SUV once told me, "Freedom isn't Free." To which I said, "Amen, buddy. Amen."

The SUV driver then hopped out of his car at a stop light, hauled me out of my Toyota Prius, and repeatedly punched me in the face for not buying American.

"Ouch!," I said. "Please stop hitting me! Please!"

It makes you laugh, but it also makes you think.

The BRH concept makes too much sense, saves too much time, is too beneficial too not work.

Stop the spambots, save the world (or at least a dozen wasted mornings and afternoons combing through fake listings and visiting unsuitable rental units)!

Christ, I'm sorry Mike. We were lucky to have bought ten years ago, which means we are actually paying less, at the moment, to live in our place than it would cost to rent the same space.
I read a great post while doing the RBA / OMB work which basically asserted that, if you can't buy a house and rent it profitably, the market you're in sucks. This is one of those stunningly obvious statements that for some reason very few people ever say out loud.
I knew you bought sort of late. I'm sure we would have done the exact same thing if we had been in your position. I know that I lost lots of my retirement in the safe as houses (hah!) mutual funds my 'financial advisors' put me in. I'd have been better putting my money in CDs for the last 10 years.
Not the last year; the last ten years.
I know this because my wife basically did that. Her 401k is a factor of ten larger than mine. DOH!

Well, what's wrong with this picture? Housing prices explode, and people ditch the rental market to get into houses. Housing prices tank, and everyone gets forced out of houses and crowds into apartments--which, apparently are going up!

I'm part of this maddening cycle--I bought into the top of the housing market, and now I'm stuck in a house I wouldn't be able get my money back on if I tried.

During the boom we all heard that renting was a waste of money, like flushing your rent down the toilet every month. Now I'm not so sure. Looks like my mortgage is whirling around in the bowl now... At least with an apartment, you can't lose more money than you put in!
